If you live in USA then yes you need it.
Yes. Pretty much any good money making opportunity will require you to provide a social security number. Why? Because if you make over a certain amount, they are required to report it to the IRS. (By the way, I thought it was $600, not 400? Maybe it varies by state or something?)
Tips for making money from a blog:
First and foremost, your focus should be on making it look nice and have useful content to attract visitors. Pick a field you are knowledgeable in and focus a lot on it. If you use WordPress for your blog, don’t forget the SEO plugin and Sitemap plugin. — These will help. And let your friends know about your blog’s existance to help get the word out.
2 good ad networks are Google Adsense and Chitika. Adsense tries to target the content of your website, so you have a better chance of relevant ads showing to your user. Their minimum payout is $100 which can take a few years to earn if your blog isn’t popular.
Chitika ads are only for visitors that came through a search engine. They target the search term used to get to your blog. Their minimum payout is $10 and they have a better click-thru rate.
If you do try out chitika, I would appreciate if you went through the ad on one of my webpages. You can also see my initial impression. — I expect my first payment next month and will update my blog then. http://easttexasdesign.com/2009-11-11/chitika-ads-initial-impression/
